How to clean my flooring using Steam Cleaner?

09 October 2015     0     0

When you get a wooden floor there are plenty of different questions like how do you clean it? Well, if you are using a steam cleaner, then make sure you find out how to do it properly before you start so that you don't damage the flooring. You can use it on carpet tiles and hardwood, but you need to be careful.

You also don't want it used it on laminate because it can cause the adhesive or even the glue to come up and that will ruin your brand new floor. However, first off, you don't want to steam clean your wood flooring for at least the first 24 hours after it has been installed and you should make sure that you have plenty of time to go outside or do something else while the flooring is drying.

The steam cleaner releases too much moisture for the engineered wood flooring and for laminates and you shouldn't use them even though the water is soaked back up immediately. The best thing to do is to use the steam cleaner on your carpet and not on your hardwood floor, unless you know what you are doing. You should also make sure that all of your furniture and carpet padding is protected while you are steam cleaning.

Vacuum the floor before starting with the steam cleaner and make sure that you get up all of the small items from the carpet. Move all of the furniture out of the way and use a steam cleaner, which you can rent from many different locations. You need to ensure that the carpet is dry within 24 hours after the cleaning to ensure that no mildew or mold is growing.

You simply need to mix whatever ingredients are required in the machine and plug it in. Slowly go over the carpet with the machine and ensure that you cover every spot and while you are doing this the carpet will be cleaned and the machine will be spitting out clean water and soaking up the dirty. This is a simple process, but you should make sure that you know what you are doing before starting so that you don't cause any excess damage.

However, if you aren't confident or comfortable doing it yourself, you can always hire someone to take care of it for you. There are plenty of different companies that specialize in cleaning carpets and you should always clean it good after the initial installation.
